What Is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)?
Generative Engine Optimization, or GEO, is the work of making a business easier for AI answer systems to discover, understand, trust and mention. It is related to SEO and local search, but the visible result may be an answer, recommendation or citation rather than only a blue link.
The six-part GEO funnel
- Crawl: important pages can be reached and read.
- Understand: services, category, location and contact facts are clear.
- Trust: profiles, reviews, links and other sources corroborate the business.
- Match: pages answer the actual questions customers ask.
- Mention: an answer engine chooses to include the business for a query.
- Measure: mentions connect to visits, enquiries and outcomes.
