Questions to Ask Your Accountant About a Business Valuation
An accountant does more than check arithmetic. They can help you decide whether earnings are maintainable, whether adjustments are defensible and which documents a buyer, lender or authority may require.
Useful questions
- Is SDE, EBITDA or another metric appropriate for this business?
- Which add-backs are reasonable and which need to be removed?
- What normal working capital does the business require?
- Are there tax, GST, debt or asset issues that change the value?
- Which figures should be verified against primary records?
- Is a formal valuation required for the decision I am making?
Bring your OpenBiz valuation report, assumptions and source documents to the meeting. A good review should make the uncertainty clearer, not pretend it has disappeared.
